Winter tyres

Winter tyres (M+S tyres) improve safety and
should theref ore be fitted on all wheels.
The design of summer tyres means they have
limited qualities for winter driving.
If the maximum permissible speed for the
winter t yres is le ss than that of the vehicle, a
notice indicating the maximum permissible
speed for the tyres must be affixed within the
driver's field of vision

When using spare wheel with summer tyres:
Driving behaviour may differ. Replace
defective tyre as quickly as possible, balance
wh eel and fit to vehicle.

Tyre c hains are only permitted on the re ar
wheels.
Only fine -lin ked ch ains n ot pro truding more
than 15 mm on the tyre trea d and inboard
sides (including c hain lock) , as tested and
recommended by Vaux hall may be use d.
Wheel covers on steel wheels may come into
contact with parts of the c hains. In such
cases, remove the wheel covers – see
page 181.
Tyre c hains ma y only be used at spee ds up to
30 mph (50 km/h) and, when travelling on
roads that are free of snow, they may be used
for brief periods only since they are subjec t to
rapid wear on a ha rd road an d ma y sna p.

Tyre chains must not be u sed on the
temporary spare wheel.
