Towing service

Entrust your vehicle only to the towing service

of your choice and obtain an estimate on

towing costs before employing any towing

service. In this w ay you avoid unnecessary

costs and possible insurance problems

during claim proce ssing.

Towin g another vehicle

Saloon

To open the cove r c oncealing the towing eye

sock et on the rea r right of the vehicle:

disengage the cover at the bottom and pull it

of f dow nwar ds.

The towin g eye is located in the bag

containing the vehicle tools in the

compartment on the right-hand side of the

luggage c ompartment above the wheel

housing. The compartment may be covered

by a fl ap 3: Pull the handle and open the flap

– see pa ge 17 9, Fig. 10 77 6 V.

Sc rew in the towin g eye anti-clockwise as far

as it will go and use the wheel bolt key to

tighten it until it is fully horizontal.

Attach a tow rope 3 – or better still a tow

rod 3 – to t he eye.

Drive off slowly and avoid jerky movements.

Impermissible tractive forces could damage

the vehicle s.
