Windscreen wipe r bla des
Smea ring wiper blades should be clean ed
with a sof t cloth an d Vaux hall Win dscre en
wash solvent. Replace them if necessary; se e
pag e 204.
Locks
Before they leave the factory, the locks are
lubric ated with a high-grade lock cylinder
grease. Vauxhall lock cylinder grease
prevents the locks from f reezing up.
Use de-icing agents only in emergencies, as
they have a degreasing effect and will impair
the function of the locks. After using de-icing
agents re-grease the locks.
Engine compartment
Important areas of the e ngine c ompartment
have been provided with permanent
protection at the fac tory in the f orm of a h igh-
quality, smooth protective lacqu er coating.
Parts of th e engine compartmen t lacquered in
the sa me colour as the vehicle's paintwork
ca n be treated in the same wa y as all painted
surfa ces. Wa sh the engine on ly if absolutely
necessary. Before washing the engine,
protect alternator and brake fluid contain er
with plastic covers.
When washing the en gine with a ste am-jet
cleaner, do not direct the steam jet at
components of the antilock brake system 3,
the automatic air conditioning system or the
belt drive and its components.
When the engine is washed, subsequently
applied protective wax is also removed. After
washing, the engine as well as parts of the
brake system, axle components (with
steering) and body parts and cavities should
therefore be thoroughly coated with
Protective Wax by a Vauxhall Dealership.
Do not use hig h-pressure je t c leane rs on
whee ls and tyres.
Un der bo dy
Your vehicle has a factory-applied PVC
unde rcoating in the whe el arch es (including
the longitudinal members) which provides
perman ent protect ion and needs no special
maintenance. The surfaces of the vehicle
underbody not covered by PVC are provided
with a durable protective wax coating.
On vehicles w hich are washed f re quently in
automatic car washes with underbody
washing facility, the protective wax coating
may be impaired by dirt-dissolving additives,
so check the underbody after washing and
have it waxed if necessary. Before the start of
the cold weather se ason, che ck t he PVC
coa ting a nd protective wax coating and, if
necessary, have them restored to perfect
condition.
Caution: commercial bitumen and rubber
materials c an damage the PVC coating. Have
all work on the unde rbody pe rformed by a
Vauxha ll Dealership, as it requires kn owledge
of the specified materials and experience
concerning t heir applic ation.
Afte r the cold mo nt hs, an un derbody wash
must be carried out in order to remove dirt
stuck to the underside of the vehicle, which
may also contain large quantities of salt.
Check protective wax coat ing and have it
made go od i f nec essary.
